Capsule Geology

The Fewright Porphyry prospect is situated on the south-western margin of the Jurassic to Tertiary Hawilson monzonite complex. The complex is emplaced into the Upper Triassic volcanic and clastic sedimentary rocks of the Stuhini Group.

The target is represented by an arcuate resistivity and magnetic anomaly surrounding a magnetic low. A widespread hematitic gossan and broad hook shaped VTEM resistivity anomaly correlates with the Stuhini shale-graphite and arkosic clastic sedimentary rocks with disseminated and banded pyrite and pyrrhotite. Felsic dikes and quartz veins cutting across pyritic shale (gossan) to the north of Fewright Creek were observed from a distance. Geophysical results indicate that this anomaly expands in size with depth.

Metallis’ technical team in 2018 investigated the Fewright Creek VTEM anomalies and the source of the historic placer gold showings and geochemical anomalies. Prospecting downslope from the VTEM anomaly, Metallis geologists identified several boulders showing intense silicification and epithermal style mineralization of chalcopyrite, sphalerite and galena grading 0.5 per cent copper and 0.77 zinc (https://metallisresources.com/regional-targets/#1550789611448-bb26e977-f53f). Traversing further to the north, the mineralized monzodiorite boulders along the creek indicate the presence of a porphyry center nearby. Follow up work for 2019 is planned.

See Mount Dunn (104B 079) and Clif (104B 620) and other Kirkham property prospects for further geological and historical details.
